Inviting Eastchester: Idyllically Historical
Inviting Eastchester is located in south Westchester County and is comprised of two villages, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. The town is also home to a census-designated place by the same name. A historic locale, Eastchester was founded as a settlement back in 1664. At that time, ten families decided to establish a homestead in the area and were later joined by other families.
Inviting Eastchester and Its Luminaries
Some of the historical luminaries that once called Eastchester home included Aaron Burr, who was the third Vice-President of the United States and Anne Hutchinson, who fervently supported religious freedom.
Film Credits
Various parts of the town have been featured in leading films. For example, the Leewood Country Club, which once boasted Babe Ruth as a member, was a filming site in the 1982 movie, The World According to Garp. Also, Tuckahoe’s Main Street was featured in a scene in the 2001 film, Riding in Cars with Boys.

A hub in summer, the Lake Isle Country Club, was popular in the 20s, when it was called the Mount Vernon Country Club. By the 40s, the name had changed to the Vernon Hills Country Club. Situated on nicely manicured lawns, the homes are part of a low-crime area, many of which are owned by professional people and urban commuters who want to make small but inviting Eastchester their family residence.
A High Property Tax Rate
However, one thing that is not very welcoming is the taxes some residents must pay. If you feel that your tax is too high, you can obtain relief by going through a property tax appeals service, such as the Sokol group. Residents in Westchester pay some of the highest property taxes in the country. So, seeking relief from an appeals service is a logical and smart move to make.
The Sokol Group was established to reduce the property taxes of Eastchester homeowners and other Westchester residents who feel they are paying out more than their share in taxes. You can find out more about this service by visiting the Sokol Group online and reviewing the tax grievance process .
