Pocantico Hills, New York is situated within Westchester County, and it is a hamlet located in the town of Mount Pleasant. It also is the home of the Rockefeller family estate called Kykuit, a 204-room mansion, replete with extensive gardens and a fine art collection.

The public can tour the grounds, including Rockefeller State Park Preserve, and this gives access to horseback riding, biking, and running trails. Many notable guests have stayed in the family estate known as Pocantico, such as Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and it was offered in 1946 as headquarters for the brand new United Nations. 10 Rockefeller families have lived in the estate, and Bill Clinton, who lives nearby, has been observed jogging in the state park.

Pocantico Hills is set between the Hudson River and the Saw Mill River Parkway and has thousands of acres of parkland, woodlands, and brooks and is about an hour’s commute from jobs in Manhattan. John D. Rockefeller Jr. founded the Pocantico Hills School District where children can be educated, and parents can choose between three partner schools, Briarcliff, Pleasantville, and Tarrytown.

Its railway system was first established in 1880 and was called The Old Put Railroad, a dangerous, slow mode of transport over swampy marshland and deep valleys. It was eventually relocated to run along the Saw Mill River, paid for by John D. Rockefeller Jr.
